York WiRE June Meeting - Cashflow & Cake!

For our June WiRE meeting we're venturing out of town to the beautiful setting of Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens. Hopefully it will be a nice evening and we can finish off our meeting with a stroll around the grounds. Our main presentation will be by Rana Harvey of Dazzling Dummies , who will be speaking about cashflow. Although maybe not the most glamorous of subjects, it is really important to all businesses, and good cashflow management has helped Rana to develop her business very successfully in a relatively short time. It's a great opportunity to take advantage of her expertise in this area. To make up for the slightly dry presentation topic we'll be having some lovely cake during our tea/coffee break instead of the usual biccies! The ten minute member slot will be given by Georgia Wilkinson, who will be speaking about her business Jorja Wilkinson Design.

Hare Inn Haiti?

Even after all this time the power of the Internet still sometimes surprises me. A simple press release I did for a North Yorkshire pub with the aim of attracting more local customers ends up on the USA Today website - via the Malton & Pickering Mercury! I guess it was because it mentioned Haiti. It's a bit of a hike from the States to Scawton, but you never know... the Hare Inn's food is certainly worth the journey!

York Press Business Awards

Yes, it's that time of year again! These awards are really worth entering as there's a good chance you'll get some free PR. CopyCat kicks off the nominations with client Anne Jones of York Debt Solutions - read about her in today's paper. If anyone needs any help with their entry do give me a shout.

Quite a few members have requested a session on presentation skills, so this month Jules Wyman of Positive Belief (www.positive-belief.co.uk) is going to talk to us on that subject. I'm sure many of you will have seen the dynamic Jules speak before, or perhaps attended her Confidence Garden group, so you'll know it should be very entertaining, and hopefully we'll all pick up some useful tips. The ten minute member slot will be given by Helen Goodwin of Made You Look (www.madeyoulookmadeyoustare.co.uk). If you'd like to attend please let me know and, as usual, do feel free to bring along any guests.
